Bludenz City Museum
The Bludenz town archivist Alfons Leuprecht (1867-1940) started a collection of historical, folkloristic and natural history objects related to Bludenz even before the First World War. Inspired by the founding of the Feldkirch Museum of Local History in 1912, similar efforts took shape in Bludenz from 1918 onwards. In 1922, the museum was opened in the Upper Gate.
In 2002, the Bludenz Region History Association made the Bludenz City Museum its theme on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of its opening. The city of Bludenz subsequently commissioned a museum concept and the recording of the inventory. Since January 2019, the permanent exhibition in the Upper Gate has been renovated as part of a project funded by the European Union's Leader programme.
